Special Education Foundation Camp Funding

The mission of the Special Education Foundation is to assist children with disabilities served by Special School District in St. Louis County achieve success in areas not supported by tax dollars or United Way. The “Kid-to-Camp” program is one of the Foundation’s most successful programs. Through this program, the Foundation provides financial assistance to parents so their child can attend summer camp.

Spark/AMT Dance Therapy & Movement

a program of DK Dance Productions

Spark / AMT is a dance therapy program based on the principles of Autism Movement Therapy for children who struggle with motor coordination, social, speech, and behavioral skills. It consists of warm up, short routines, movement, and games with therapeutic benefits.  In addition to the program instructor, the class is staffed with volunteers to assist hands-on to enhance learning and a positive experience in the program.

Opera On The Go! (Sensory friendly)

Opera Theatre St Louis

Join Opera Theatre of Saint Louis for a fun, engaging 70 minutes of Movement and Stage Make-Up Workshops, both with audience participation, followed by an abbreviated performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s hilarious The Pirates of Penzance. The performance features current and former Gerdine Young Artists with piano accompaniment. It is recommended for students in grades 3-10 and is tailored for young people with sound sensitivities. A “quiet room” and pacing lanes will be available. Space is limited to 60 participants.

Family Retreat

Joni & Friends

Come receive encouragement are care in a safe and fun family setting with other families who understand the demands of disability. Short Term Missionaries (STMs) volunteer and serve families with Christ’s love, genuine support, and friendship. Limited to 20 families.

Overnight Summer Camp for Adults with Disabilities

Heartland Camp

God can use camp as a life changing experience for everyone which is why we developed this program for adults with developmental disabilities that are high functioning. Campers participate in Christian-based activities each day including Bible study, worship, swimming, crafts, games, carnival, dance party and a final talent show to end the week. Campers stay in our air-conditioned buildings and be with our trained staff at all times.  Vehicles are available for those who are not able to walk our hills.

Gateway Tykes on Trykes

Gateway Tykes on Trykes

Gateway Tykes on Trykes is a group of local Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapists along with local families dedicated to providing adapted tricycles to children in the St. Louis area and surrounding communites by raising funds for and assessing for, proper fit of the AmTryke® therapeutic trike to children & others who are otherwise unable to ride a regular bike.

Flexibility and support for families in an encouraging environment that gives children receiving respite care for positive social interactions with other children and adults. Friendship: Adults with Special Needs

The Friendship Ministry meets Sunday 9am and Thursday 7pm to reach out in love to the greater St. Louis community, leading adults with special needs. By God’s word, through God’s love, and with God’s promises to individuals, we train these unique people to live within a church community. Each week, we gather for a variety of learning experiences led by a team of gifted, trained, loving, and enthusiastic Friendship Class ministry team members.
