The mission of the Special Education Foundation is to assist children with disabilities served by Special School District in St. Louis County achieve success in areas not supported by tax dollars or United Way. The “Kid-to-Camp” program is one of the Foundation’s most successful programs. Through this program, the Foundation provides financial assistance to parents so their child can attend summer camp.

Spark / AMT is a dance therapy program based on the principles of Autism Movement Therapy for children who struggle with motor coordination, social, speech, and behavioral skills. It consists of warm up, short routines, movement, and games with therapeutic benefits. In addition to the program instructor, the class is staffed with volunteers to assist hands-on to enhance learning and a positive experience in the program.

Introduce children to the magic of opera with Opera on the GO! This program combines live performance with engaging workshops on stage makeup, lighting design, and singing. Sensory friendly performances occur annually.

Camp MoVal is located on 280 acres that includes beautiful forest, native prairie, streams and a lake. Facilities include a dining and meeting hall, four lakeside cabins, two retreat lodges, two rustic camping villages, high and low ropes courses, a boat and fishing dock, game and archery fields, hiking trails, and more. We offer inclusive youth summer camp, adult special needs camp, and family retreats.
Adventures in Community is a specialized camp week designed for adults ages 18+ with special needs, who are active and can independently care for their needs. Campers participate in most traditional camp activities including swimming, canoeing, crafts, fishing, games, karaoke, and more, as well as exploring our faith. Camp starts at 4pm on Sunday and ends Friday at 9am.

iCan Ride, Lydia Cox Bike Camp in St. Louis: This week-long summer program is for children ages 8 and older who want to learn to ride a 2-wheel bike. Our 75 minute lesson uses a graduated method with 80% of our camp participants riding a typical two-wheel bike independently by the end of our 5-day program. We also welcome volunteer spotters who can run beside the riders as they learn. The Lydia Faith Cox Family Foundation was established in 2009 in memory of Lydia who filled us with joy for 3 beautiful years.
iCan Shine Camps in MO: iCan Shine is an international charitable nonprofit organization. We collaborate with local organizations and individuals, our program ‘hosts’, to conduct approximately 100 five-day ‘iCan’ programs in 35 States and Canada serving nearly 3,000 people with disabilities each year.

Judevine provides support both in the natural home environment & in the community while addressing specific goals designed by the family and the Judevine team. They also provide social skills groups in a group setting to children and/or adults.
Retreat is a safe and accepting Christ-centered camp environment where individuals and families living with disability are cared for, encouraged, and rejuvenated. A loving and trained volunteer attends activities with our campers with special needs while parents, siblings and caregivers attend programming worry free. We also offer year-round support services including family fun nights, marriage enrichment, and parent support groups.

The Jensen-Schmidt Tennis Academy is designed to meet the sport specific needs of children and young adults with Down Syndrome. Through a high level of motivational exercises and positive attitudes, our staff is dedicated to giving our students training in tennis, all the while having fun and building relationships. Our day camp comes to the St. Louis metro area one week per summer.
God can use camp as a life changing experience for everyone which is why we developed this program for adults with developmental disabilities that are high functioning. during this 4-day overnight experience, campers participate in Christian-focused activities including Bible study, worship, swimming, crafts, games, carnival, dance party and a final talent show to end the week. Campers stay in our air-conditioned buildings and be with our trained staff at all times. Vehicles are available for those who are not able to walk our hills.
