Peggy Welker

Peggy has been with us since February 2017 and has worked in the social services field since 2007 when her daughter, who has autism, entered kindergarten. Her daughter is now preparing to transition from high school to a fulfilling adult life. Peggy enjoys interacting with individuals with disabilities, parents and support professionals to help match participants with recreation and leisure activities according to their interests and needs. She believes everyone has something unique to contribute to their community. Peggy enjoys a variety of recreational activities including biking, hiking, photography, scrapbooking, painting, reading and making cards.
Mindy Davis
St. Louis City Coordinator
Mindy came here unconventionally. Most of her career was spent as an aerospace engineer, designing fighter jets and solving structural engineering problems. After discovering that her first child was on the autism spectrum, Mindy left engineering to spend her days working with her daughter. Her evenings were spent tirelessly researching autism and ways to help make her daughter’s life better and more fulfilling. This led to many years working with the Parent Training and Information Center for Missouri (MPACT) and several years of volunteer advocacy work with Missouri families. Mindy is thrilled to be working with the Recreation Council team to help connect children and adults with developmental disabilities in St. Louis City with the leisure and recreation programs of their choice. She enjoys travelling and exploring new places with her family, cycling, animals and all the wonderful arts that St. Louis has to offer.
Carol Callahan
St. Charles County Coordinator
Carol has been employed by the Recreation Council since 2005. She has 35+ years of experience working in the field of recreation for people with disabilities, and holds degrees in Therapeutic Recreation and Secondary Education. Her service to people of all ages with mental health, cognitive, hearing, and physical disabilities is driven by the belief that everyone deserves a life full of choices and possibilities. Carol enjoys recreation activities in the outdoors, camping in the national parks, hiking, skiing, craft activities, theater, spiritual connection through her church affiliation, and volunteering for various community organizations. She and her husband live in the St. Charles area, as does her adult son and his wife.
